Disability Program Navigator
What: The Disability Program Navigator (DPN) program is a partnership between the Social Security Administration and U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. The purpose of the DPN program is to increase the use of job centers by people with disabilities by facilitating seamless and comprehensive services to them and increase their employment opportunities and self-sufficiency.
Why: The DPN program works to help the work force, including 24% of the population which experience some kind of disability. It also comes to the aid of youth who are either in or out of school. The GF/MH grant for this program is in the amount of $150,000 to make up for inadequate federal funding, and also to establish two full-time, long-term positions that will work with this program.
