Catherine Helle
|
Catherine Helle is the 2009-2010 Legislative Intern for the Governor’s Council. A student majoring in English Literature with a minor in Alaska Native Studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage, she is heavily involved on campus with a variety of extra curricular activities and has an extensive public speaking background. Her membership in the Forty-Ninth State Fellows Program, a political science and history-based program with an emphasis on harnessing leadership in undergraduate students, introduced her to the Governor’s Council and equipped her with many of the skills necessary to undertake legislative work. Catherine is a senator for the Union of Students of the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is also involved in the Heifer International Service Learning Program, which helps students become acquainted with international issues such as hunger, as well as projects to solve such problems in local and culturally-sensitive ways. For fun, Catherine likes to spend time at her home in Washington, the Evergreen State, and reading classic literature and philosophy is among her favorite pastimes.
