The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services was awarded a Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Cooperative Agreement for an Oral Health Program by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2003. The grant funds a state dental officer and the infrastructure to provide oral health leadership in the state.

Alaska Dental Action Coalition meets three times per year to discuss development of the oral health plan, policy recommendations and information sharing on oral health and dental access. |

Complete the comprehensive state oral health plan with recommendations to reduce oral disease, increase dental access and address dental workforce in Alaska. |

Continue work with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to enter community water system information in the CDC Water Fluoridation Reporting System and recognize community water systems and water operators achieving annual optimal fluoridation of the respective water systems. |

Collaborate with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Tribal dental programs, Community Health Centers and the State Primary Care Office to improve dental access in underserved areas of the State. |
