Section Honored with SafeKids Partner of Excellence Award

In 1987, Providence Alaska Medical Center became the lead agency in the state for Safe Kids Alaska. The mission of Safe Kids Alaska is to address all unintentional, preventable injuries to Alaska's children 15 years and under. Safe Kids Alaska is part of the Safe Kids Worldwide Campaign in Washington DC.
The award was given to the Section of IPEMS, Injury Surveillance and Prevention (ISPP) Unit. Gordon Glaser accepted it on our behalf. ISPP provides leadership and coordination of Child Passenger Safety training statewide. In addition, we have been a key partner for the Alaska Kids Don’t Float Program, which is being sponsored by the Safe Kids Worldwide Campaign. The Section has taken active leadership and coordination roles in other child injury prevention programs and projects that promote child safety and the development of positive long-term behavior.
